5 Tips for Choosing The Right Plumbing Company

Hiring a plumbing company is an important decision that you shouldn’t take lightly. Hiring the wrong plumber can result in costly, unforeseen repairs.

One of the best ways to find a great plumbing company is to check with friends, neighbors, or work colleagues for references. They may have had good or bad experiences with local plumbing companies and will offer invaluable advice or even recommend a company. Alternatively, head to your local building contractor and ask them to recommend two or three companies. Thereafter, conduct your own research and make an informed decision.

If the two options listed above don’t work, head to the internet. You’ll definitely find a reputable and reliable plumbing company there. To help you make the right choice, here are five factors to consider;

  • Insurance

What happens in case a contractor breaks your window in the process of fixing your plumbing? What if you (the homeowner), your loved one, or visitor is injured by one of the plumber’s tools? This is why you should only choose insured plumbers. Insurance will protect both you and the plumber in case of an accident or injury.

  • Warranty

If a plumbing company has complete confidence in their work, they will back up such work with a solid warranty. Most warranties cover the plumber’s work for one or two years. If the company is reluctant to provide a warranty, then move on.

  • Experience

Most great plumbing companies usually have plumbers with several years of experience in the industry. This kind of experience is important because it helps the plumber to solve even the most complex issues.

  • Pricing

See if the company offers a good price for the project in question. By now you must have learned that you should never compromise quality just because you’re getting a lower price. So, shop around, compare prices and determine the company that promises the greatest value.

  • Consumer ratings and reviews

There are several websites that exist primarily to review and rate contractors, including plumbing companies. The best of the lot is probably Yellow Pages where users go to rate and leave reviews about past clients. The other one is Angie’s List.

    I agree with what you said about finding a plumber with good reviews. If other people seem to get good service, then you can feel more confident in his work. Also, looking at reviews can help save you time because you can eliminate options with bad reviews instead of learning from experience.

    Although people don’t really like to admit it, pricing is one of the biggest influences when it comes to plumbers. I think that it is best to do as much research as you can and find the plumber that you are going to call in case something does happen. If a pipe bursts in your home, you don’t want to be searching the internet for the plumber that you want. Ask friends and family for recommendations.

    I like your tip about making sure a plumbing company has solid warranties. Having the company stand by their work is a top priority. I would want to know that if something did go wrong afterwards they would fix the problem in a time sensitive manner. Hopefully, by following your tips for finding a good plumbing company, I can find someone I will be able to trust.

    I’d never heard of plumbers giving warranties for their work, but I love that some do! And I agree with your suggestion that if a plumber isn’t willing to offer a warranty than maybe you should look elsewhere for one that does. I’ll add that to my list of things to look for in a plumber as I find one to work with us on our kitchen renovation.

    I like that finding an insured plumber is at the top of your list as that’s not often thought about when choosing a company to work with. The article makes a great point in reminding the readers that a plumber should need to be able to cover any accidental damages they cause to your home. A good plumbing service will usually talk about their insurance coverage with you when you’re working out the initial estimate for the project.

    You make a really good point about choosing a company with a large amount of experience. Not only does that show they can handle most jobs, but I also think it means that the company is more familiar with the local area’s pipe systems. Since plumbing regulations can change from area to area, I imagine it would be a good idea to choose a professional who is familiar with the local regulations.
